Speaking for the People: President's Holiday

Hello and remember everyone: No class meeting for Comm 301 this week on Feb 17th! Start Presidents' Day festivities a day early! Also Feb 18th and 21st are campus holidays for Presidents' Day fyi. We start with group speeches the following Tuesday--In the meantime, please email me at wheeleS@crc.losrios.edu if you need any group speech help! Each member of each group is required to submit their own individual copy of the group outline. This week here on our blog-o-rama, I need you to look ahead to spring break! Get excited, it is just around the corner! Woo-hoo!  April 18th-24th! Once we make it to that it is downhill friends! Okay, think about it, get motivated and then blog here: Every good speech should have a clear thesis--the main point of your speech, right? The book calls it your 'central idea!' Chapter 8 reminds us to creat thesis statments that are relevant and motivating--Use key words in your claim to make it POP! (p. 54). Construct a great thesis statement here and use high energy, key words and active language to state something about spring break, make a thesis statement about anything to do with planning, scheduling, destinations, instructions, what to take, when it is or should be, where not to go, how to make it until then, ect. Kep this blog short, direct and super powerful and creative: Let the thesis's begin!!!!!

Mine: As concerned students, we must band together and create a giant count-down to spring break calendar for the fountain quad of Sacramento City College. Wouldn't this motivate everyone to push through until break???!

Getting tired of the cold and rainy winter months? Well, the sun is coming out to shine as Spring Break is just around the corner. Be sure to greet the sunshine by sunbathing on the beach or enjoying a picnic in the park. Spring is coming, so don't miss a second of it staying inside.

  13. When you are getting tired of all the stress from school just think about how much fun you are going to be having during Spring Break. It will be here before you know it and after that you will almost be done with the semester. Have fun !!

  14. With all the stress of homeworks and exams, I just want to slow down, take a break, relax, and have fun. I still remember the Spring Break before last my whole family went on a 20-people trip to Las Vegas. I hope that we can plan another trip like that this year and have some great family time together.

  15. Spring Break, the light to so many's misery of winter school. Whether its mindless gaming and farmville-ing, or trips to the beach, river, or even another city, ideas of Spring Break are popping into students and teacher's head alike. With so many options and such little time, lets review some of the more fun activities to do that's not only local, but inexpensive as well.

  16. Spring break is just around the corner and I can't wait. The time of the year for many people to take vacations and go wild. Places like cabo and Miami are highly known for spring break. This year will probably be my first trip to Mexico so time to go wild and hope I make it back in one piece!

  18. Spring, consist of allergies, flowers, and fun. spring vacation is called spring vacation for a reason, its a time to develop yourself and plan out your summer which would most likely be your next vacation. best thing to do is plan ahead of time and make sure your plans on constructed with full days of activities because im sure no one would want to waste the week away from school, surely not me. Best place to go of course mexico but i wouldn't recommend anyone go there this year, simply because of the high activity of cartel, killings, and drug activity. where you choose to go, just make it fun.

sorry im late on this response...I wasn't able to log on this entire weekend

Students are tired of the school work and tests and spring break is the time to squander our time. Lets take off the rain boots and get into our swim gear because the beaches are calling us. We are the next generation for this civilization and if we don't party now then we might regret it forever. This spring break should be epic, so lets make a toast for the new memories we will be making this spring break.
