Hi Gang! Next week is earth day! I am hosting a 'star gazing' party over ay CRC from 830-915pm on Wed 4/13--come for some extra credit and check it out! We'll be on the south east corner of the lawn facing the public library on the Hwy 99 side of CRC campus --it is only 10 minutes from SCC! Snacks will be served!5 points for coming and up to 15 for writing up an earth day "action plan" using class vocabulary--BUT only if you come to the star party! For this blog, post one thing you and your friends can do (ideally: FREE!) to celebrate EARTH DAY, by cherishing, cleaning up or improving something on our lovely planet! Be sure to use some public speaking vocabulary in your post (The persuasion chapter in your book)
EARTH IS HOME---HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS! Smiles--S

ReplyDeleteOne thing that my friends and I can do is not to drive at all for Earth Day and just walk to school or to stores. Also ride bikes out there to promote clean air and less CO2 emission for Earth Day/Mother Earth. SO KEEP GOING GREEN AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY EVERYONE !!!FOR MOTHER EARTH!!! :)

ReplyDeleteOne thing that my friends and I can do is not to drive at all for Earth Day and just walk to school or to stores. Also ride bikes out there to promote clean air and less CO2 emission which shows evidence that less driving can reduce greenhouse gases. When riding on our bikes, we will wear a shirt that says SAVE MOTHER EARTH as our logos to persuade others to join us. We hope that what we are doing is a pathos for others to feel the same for Earth Day/Mother Earth. SO KEEP GOING GREEN AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY EVERYONE !!!FOR MOTHER EARTH!!! :)

ReplyDeleteOn earth day I would not drive my car anywhere for the entire day in order to save the air. Also I would try to PERSUADE my friends to turn off or unplug all of the appliances in there homes at the same time for one hour. Hopefully, the word will spread and we could all save energy to help the earth.
To celebrate Earth Week, my friends and I can educate and increase other people's awareness of the importance of our beautiful environment by setting up a "Earth Day Fair". In my Chemistry class, we are volunteering at an elementary school for their Earth Day science fair. We are going to set up different booths to show the elementary students about how they can help to protect and improve our environment such as recycling, reusing plastic bags, and conserving resources by turning off lights when not used.

Oh no, the stargazing party takes place right when I have class at SCC! So, I can't be there.
ReplyDeleteFor Earth day, my friends and I can cut back on driving our cars, recycle used materials, and use less electricity. You can save money on gasoline, which is through the roof nowadays, and save money on your utility bill. But it's not just for one day or week; everyone should do this everyday.
I'll try to make it out, who doesn't love snacks!
ReplyDeleteEarth day is a day to cherish the world in which we live in which should be done on a regular basis but for this particular day I'll probably go out and help out clean our local creek.

ReplyDeleteone thing me and my friends could probably do is either go plant trees or go buy new hybrid cars, well at least that what i plan on doing. even tho buying a car is not free i still like to think that t would be more beneficial to myself, others around me, and the earth. and i think we may vogue to carry a plastic bag in the car for trash instead of throwing it out the window.
One thing my friends and I can do is pick up trash. Anyone can go pick up trash from the park or even on SCC campus itself. My reason for picking up trash is that it is harming our environment and just picking up a little bit, might help put an end to all the trash in the ocean.

Earth day is a day where the community gathers together to appreciate mother nature. I think that we should appreciate our Earth every single day by throwing away trash instead of throwing it on the ground, recycle things that are recycable (who doesn't like recycling...you get money in return!), walking, riding a bike, or atleast carpooling with a group of friends would help. Also, turn off lights before leaving a room and using appliance after seven would help the environment as well too. So don't only do this on Earth day...do this everyday to keep our world go round! =]

Some times its best way to help the earth is with our own habbits. My gf and I are on my way to quiting smoking cigs but none of the other smokers in my apartment complex are not quiting. So I am going to put out an ashtrey out so ppl will stop throughing THEIR buts in the street(I never did for the record). I personaly think that there is nothing tackier than buts all over the ground!

And chec this out I found this on Yhaoo News It has to do w/ Facebook ppl

ps and I'll make the ashtrey kinda hidden
Earth day is to celebrate the healthy earth air. I think we should help the earth by recycling the plastics and boxes, picking up your trash and trash that are around you, and by riding bikes so we won't pollute the air! People should stop driving and smoking because we don't want to ruin the earths air. We want to breathe in the best healthy air. So everyone we should do something to help our earth!

For Earth day, I could trade in my car keys for my bike. AAAAAND, I could let my friends know and convince them to all ride their bikes wherever they needed to go that day. I could also gather a group of people and go to the river to pick up trash.

EARTH DAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe earth is something that is apart of our everyday lives and we all take part in what the earth has to offer, but it's easy for all of us to forget how truly amazing and important the earth is. It's important for all of us to take the time to appreciate the earth a little more whether it be participating in keeping it green, walking through a park or even riding your bike. Something my friends and I love doing is riding our bikes around our neighborhood. I live in a pretty calm neighborhood with lots of different bike trails that are perfect for bike rides! RIding bikes is great exercise, free of cost, non-harmful to the earth and is a great way to take a little time to enjoy and appreciate the earth. We like to ride our bikes to one of the many parks in the area and just hang out in the sun. I definitely think hanging out and riding bikes outside is one of my favorite spring/summer activities because I get to be outdoors enjoying my surroundings! Riding bikes is definitely something my friends and I could do to celebrate earth and all it's offerings!

I would celebrate Earth Day by doing what I do everyday: taking public transportation/carpooling, picking up trash, recycling, walking, making sure I throw away my own trash, cutting back on electricity, cutting back on meat consumption, etc.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think that everyday should be Earth Day.

ReplyDeleteTo celebrate Earth Day not use any electrical devices the whole day and not drive the car for the whole day. Pretty much live like a like you live in a jungle trying to survive without any modern technology. Like the problem is damage to the environment, the solution dont use any technology that will use up the resources in the world.
Some things that you can do for Earth Day are that you can pick up trash that you see on the street, recycling your cans and bottles that you would otherwise throw away. Also when you recycle you can get money from helping the Earth which can benefit everyone. You can do something like carpooling or even go as far as too actually buy a prius or something. Maybe even using things that run on solar power can help. Making these minor changes can really help to make the Earth a cleaner and greener place.

Pathos - "Feeling such as pride and love..." Those are two of the most precise words which can be used to describe feelings toward our Mother Earth. Honestly, I used to not give much thought about being environmentally friendly; however, over the past few years I have learned a great deal about our wonderful planet and what it has to offer. Unfortunately, there a hundreds of thousands that are still in the dark when it comes to what we should do for the Earth and why we should do it. So on behalf of those uninformed --- I will go to Green Acres, buy some flowers, fruits, and vegetables, and have a wonderful weekend gardening with my aunt.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much wee can do to help out on Earth Day. Rather than driving we could all walk or bike and if that is too far then take public transit. If you see some trash on the ground go pick it up! Also reduce the amount of electricity in your house and preserve energy. In addition, just appreciate what we have! The world is a beautiful place!

For earth day I believe my friends and I can preserve the air by finding other forms of transportation besides our cars as well as clean up our environment. There could be a chance our doings can be ethos to those watching and soon they will join. Earth is our home so let's keep it clean!

ReplyDeleteOne thing that I can do, and encourage my friends to do, is not use energy and electricity on Earth Day or for the week. We can walk most places instead of drive. Also, not watch TV or listen to the radio and making sure to turn off the lights. That way we have a whole entire day of not wasting energy. If we can get multiple people to do this then we would be significantly helping the environment on Earth Day!
For Earth Day we should plant trees. Trees give out oxygen that is needed to survive and they make our neighborhoods look a lot nicer. They provide shade for all to enjoy and give homes to a few animals. We should also ride our bikes so we will have an increase in exercise and decrease in pollution. It's a win win situation for all.
